Mat Getsi: Bio

Mat Getsi - Lead Vocal, Piano, Guitar

Mat Getsi was born in Oak Ridge, TN, the eighteenth child of Mike & Frances Getsi. He studied Piano Performance at Roane State Community College, where he received the “Outstanding Freshman Music Award” and a full scholarship for the following year. He graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a degree in Social Work.
He currently lives in Mt. Vernon, KY and has been the Music Minister for Our Lady of Mt. Vernon Catholic Church for over fifteen years. He has lead Praise & Worship at Lighthouse Assembly of God, Cool Springs Ministry Center, St. William’s Catholic Church and many others. Mat Getsi has been instrumental in the efforts to foster unity between all denominations in Rockcastle County through community unity services, outreach and education.
Mat has played music (piano, guitar, drums, and voice) since childhood and has performed in a variety of bands and styles. He has experience in Christian Contemporary, Country, Dixieland Jazz, Pop & Classic Rock. But for the last eight years, his focus has been Christian Contemporary Music. He is co-founder of the group, New Frontier, which began in 1998. Mat Getsi and New Frontier recorded the “Psalms” CD and performed widely in the Kentucky / Tennessee area. In 2003, New Frontier came to the end of its season. Mat Getsi now continues the ministry as a solo artist.
His goals include: 1) Enkindling a passion in God’s people for true worship, 2) Full time Music, Hispanic & Deliverance Ministry, 3) Offering Music and Stewardship Workshops and 4) Creating a network to care for the homeless and orphaned in under-developed countries.
